China Flu Hysteria’s Impact

I must be getting old. I recall being told that “we’re flattening the curve so that health care providers have time to respond.” Now the narrative is “we put all these measures in place and they were so effective there wasn’t a curve.” I deeply distrust both narratives. So let’s take a brief look.

To make the numbers nice and easy, an 80 year old human has lived 960 months. If you waste one month of that person’s life, you’ve wasted about 0.1% of their life. That means, out of a world population of 7.8 billion, the approximately one month response to the China Flu, not the China Flu itself, killed 7.8 million people.
